Becoming a Master Gardener Volunteer


Please read this article, "An Introduction to Being a Master Gardener", to better understand what the annual obligations of our volunteers are in this program. Classes consist of 16 one afternoon each week from January through April. The 2018 class will be on Thursday, from 12:30 to 4:30 at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens There will be two (2) Saturday sessions, the 2018 Seed and Scion Exchange in Boonville and possibly one other TBA. Classes are taught by University of California Cooperative Extension faculty and other experts.

 A fee of $200 covers instruction and course materials. Trainees complete Live Scan (fingerprinting) at Fort Bragg Police Department or the Sheriff's Office in Ukiah. For those who are not already members of the Botanical Gardens, separate purchase of a 6-month membership is also required. (Thereafter, those who volunteer at least 25 hours annually receive a complementary membership.) If you are interested in completiing an application please click the appropriate file. Note: On an annual basis, our Master Gardener training class alternates location between the Mendocino UC Cooperative Extension in Ukiah and the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden in Fort Bragg. The 2018 class will be held at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden. Class starts Jan 2018
