Pomology

Fruit
The Pomology Program extends useful, technical, and economic research-based information to fruit and nut producers in California. Farm Advisors provide local subject matter leadership and expertise in assigned areas to determine and evaluate grower and processor problems. Major issues include improvement of production practices, resource management, pest management, food safety, worker safety, postharvest handling, alternative crops, enterprise and market analysis, and agricultural education of the public.

Rachel Elkins is Pomology Farm Advisor for Lake and Mendocino Counties. Major crop responsibilities include European pears, walnuts, olives, apples, and all other tree fruit and nut crops, except wine grapes.  Rachel  can be reached by calling 263-6838 or you can email rbelkins@ucanr.edu.
