Oct 5, 2016
From Al Kalin (akalin@hughes.net), local farmer in Imperial Valley:

The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) searching for applicants qualified and willing to apply to become IID's new PCA. The current PCA is retiring in December so IID is in a hurry to find someone to fill the position. Obviously the applicant must have a California PCA license with a weed classification.

Hopefully you might be able to furnish us with some possible applicants who have recently graduated or are looking for a job change that will last their entire career and would be interested in applying for the position.

The job would entail analyzing and writing recommendations for the IID's spray contractor to apply herbicides to over 3,000 miles of drains and canals plus the Imperial Dam area where IID diverts the farmer's 3.1 million acre feet of water yearly. There would also be other duties including yearly budgeting and GIS mapping. It would be a full time job with all the great benefits that IID is known for. The major weeds are salt cedar, arrowweed, phragmites, cattail, sedges, atriplex and spiny aster.

The starting salary is in the $60-90,000 range depending on experience and qualifications with room for advancement.

I would appreciate it if you could forward this information to prospective applicants. They should direct their questions, any interest they have, or directions for applying for the position to Mike Pacheco (mapacheco@iid.com), General Manager of the Imperial Irrigation District's Water Division.

If you have any questions about this great opportunity you should also feel free to contact Mr. Pacheco or myself, Al Kalin.
