The program follows a standardized format and has developed a high-quality environment necessary for Positive Youth Development. This has been done by engaging youth in the safe, responsible use of firearms and archery equipment, in a variety of settings, through comprehensive education, life-long recreation, and healthy competition. Complete information on the program, including its history, philosophy, objectives, risk management practices, policies, and more can be found in the Policy Documents section of this web page.
All 4-H Shooting Sports Programs are unique due to oversight at the national level by the National 4-H Shooting Sports Advisory Committee, with authority granted by the National 4-H Council and the 4-H Program Leaders' Working Group.
